Planning for Next Week

Well, since Ted brought it up in the comments, I figure it deserves its own post. So, what's going on this Turkey week, and post-turkey weekend? This is my last hurrah, as I start my job a week from monday...

As it stands, I can make gaming Monday Night (at 6:30 ish). I may be free for part of the post-turkey weekend, but that's still up in the air.

As for games -- Well, I'm always up for Race, and I just got my Combat Commander expansions ... a long game on Friday does sound like a good idea (especially if I can make it).

Brian, congrats on the new job! Hopefully they won't want your soul this time.

As for Turkey weekend, Jeff and I can host on Friday, starting at 9 am, if people are interested. Playing games is a good way avoid those crazed mobs of people.

Long games work fine, although I usually prefer shorter fare -- I'm sure there will be multiple games going on simultaneously.

We'll post a planning post on Monday, unless there are other offers.

Brian: congratulations on your job, though it will no doubt put a crimp your game playing.

I'm interested in games on Friday, and I should be able to make this.

My current top choice is Mare Nostrum plus expansions which I'm told should be in the 3-4 range with newbies like myself, and it can play up to 6.

That would put it in a mid-zone length-wise, I think.

Also very interesting to me would be Here I Stand. I honestly don't know how long the short version of Here I Stand would take, but probably not faster than Mare Nostrum.

I expansions for Combat Commander are certainly appealing, though I doubt I'll buy them any time soon. I have a lot of game play left in the original box. I've still yet to play 10 of the included scenarios.

Brian, congrats on the new job; I guess someplace got serious in a hurry; I hope it is a great fit for you.
I am a doubtful for Monday night but an almost definite yes for Friday; although rumor is that the crazed mobs are staying home this Friday much to the chagrin of retailers.

I would be perfectly happy playing Ted's list of games on Friday (minus the BattleLore and CC:Europe):

Mare Nostrum w/exp
Reef Encounter
Ra
Beowulf's Colon the Controversy

I'm planning on showing up tonight at 6:30. Will I be alone?

I won't be there tonight (Monday) - besides the lack of sleep and the family not seeing me all weekend, I've got a ton of work piled up, and have to get through it all before leaving again on Wed night for Thanksgiving...

We'll be there at that time.

I might show up -- though the way this work day has gone it will be detrimental to my health.
