Back from BGG.Con
....and boy, am I tired. I'm too fried to muster a proper report, but I thought I'd at least post a placeholder. A few highlights for me:
- Playing a game of Arkham Horror with Chris, me, and the designer, Kevin Wilson
- Playing a 4-player game of Successors against some good, nice, experienced folks and managing to pull off an auto-victory. I carried Alexander's body from Babylon all the way to Macedonia, fending off assaults on my army from the other generals, then planted it in a ceremonial burial, crowning Alexander IV as my puppet. Great game.
- Rails of Europe: Fantastic reworking of Railroad Tycoon. Keeps all the good and gets rid of the bad!
- In-depth description of Descent: The Road to Legend and the new Cosmic Encounter by, again, Kevin Wilson of FFG.
- Thanks to Sean, my first game of Werewolf
- StarCraft: The Board Game... potentially my second favorite FFG big box game
- About four games of Neuroshima Hex

Like last year, I was nothing but an Essen hits whore:
Neuroshima, Kingsburg, AGRICOLA, king of Siam, Giganten Lufte, Felix, Brass, Cuba, Amyitis, Galaxy trucker....
It was bigger, had more of what made it so good.... it was an all out success in my book. Now to catch up on some sleep.
Nice seeing the SABG crowd again.... eventhough the 30 (yep!) games played over the weekend kept me away from your eyes for some time.
Rob did a much better job than I did of maximizing gaming time, probably playing at least a third more games I did.
I want to play Brass again soon now that I've played with all the right rules. My opinion of Galaxy Trucker has actually increased a bit more after a few more plays, and I'm planning on keeping it. Felix was great fun, especially since 2F gave SABG a personal lesson, though we all "lost easily" to Yehuda. King of Siam was pretty much a letdown, and I'm glad I was able to play before getting too carried away by the hype.
I returned to find Glory to Rome in my mail pile, though no Combat Commander. I think I need to change my name on my account at GMT to AAAKindt, so I get mine shipped before Bankler. :)
GtR??? bastard....
Yes... maybe now I'll actually try understanding how to play, which will of course destroy my 1-0 record playing the game.
BTW, there are video snipets and lots of pics already on BGG. It's easier to find if you click on a 'BGGcon07' tag.
I had a great time again... My only two complaints are that there aren't enough hours in the day, especially if you like sleep. From thursday morning until sunday night, I had 11 total sleeping hours, with 6 hours of that being on thursday night. My second is that I didn't get to play more games with you guys - I was doing the rounds with the other 18 online WW players, friends from past cons, and people I knew from Dallas... It's not very often in my life that I have felt so social. See Mom, I do have friends!!
Extra thanks to Chris and Dennis who both transported me to and from the con - the transportation was much appreciated, but it was also a lot of fun talking and visiting - much more fun that driving by myself.
And one of my WW friends said I won the Pirate card category I entered - we'll see if there's anything beyond bragging rights for that. Thanks to everyone who gave me all their cards - I spent way too much time obsessing about that this weekend.
Check out my Puzzle Hunt-themed Geeklist at http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/26362.
Nice geek list! The puzzle games just aren't my thing, but you really captured the fun and excitement of the competition.
Cool reports!
Sean, I played about 7 (out of 30) with SABG. I'm a traitor of sorts too. I noticed I had to when Jon started going "yuk" while Ben and I pointed to some of the new Essen stuff in the library.
That makes Jon the traitor!
