Saturday planning
Well, the good news is that I am suddenly unburdened by NFL playoff football next weekend.
And there is a possibility that this may be The World's Most Interesting Man's last weekend of gaming for the foreseeable future.
So, while we're in the planning mood (see Brian's post below), I'll host some open gaming on Saturday, January 3rd. Might as well plan it early because we know it's going to happen. Start at 10am, and we'll see where the day goes.

I liked that commercial.
So did I--I put it up here.
I wouldn't be surprised to see it disappear at some point. But several NFL fantasy football commercials from 2007 are still up almost 6 months after being posted, so who knows?
I am a probable for January 3 although I may be a bit late since I need to bring my cats in to the vet in the morning and final confirmation with my wife may be a few days off.
How about a game of TI3 this weekend? I don't think I have ever played this at Casa de Chris.
If I can make it Saturday I would be up for TI3 but Saturday is seeming a lot less likely then new year's day and if I can make it it would likely be a bit late so that probably rules me out.
Carlos: I'll be out of town until next Mon, otherwise I'd love to play TI:3.
Argh! BGG goes down just as my auction geeklist was about to climax. Still, I think I cleared around $250 and freed up some fresh closet real estate...
I've now played about 10 games of java 1960 at Gametableonline.com... I'm enjoying the game way more than I originally did just by getting to know the deck and some of the more subtle strategies. Right now, despite some bugs in version 1.0, I'm 9-1, crushing my enemies... etc., etc. Perhaps according to the evil marketing wizard's plan, I'm now likely to upgrade to version 2.0 of the game.
If anyone is on-line there, just look for bkindt.

This is part of the reason I decided to re-activate my US chess membership. It's kinda nice to actually dive into the depths of a single game versus surfing the tsunami of new games.
If anyone's interested, the San Antonio chess club is fairly active and they claim to be the oldest in Texas.
I used to play at the SA Chess club in the late 80s, back when it was on (off?) Mulberry. Is it still there, or did it move?
While I wouldn't be terribly interested in TI:3 (to nobody's surprise), I wouldn't mind trying Starcraft.
My wife and I would like to come out Saturday. We're new to the area; I made it out to a Monday night before we moved in a month ago and met a few of you there, although the only names I remember for sure are Brian and Tiffany.
Where is your place, Chris? (Please email jbellis at gmail if you don't want to post here.)
Jake's game at Johnson is at 11:15. I'll be over as soon as it's done, and I want to play whatever Michael wants, because he's going into the salt mines soon after. Parole is unlikely.
Johnathan,
You're welcome to come over. Unfortunately my computer kicked the bucket this morning and I can't send out email (I'm doing this on my phone.) So if someone else can volunteer to mail you the directions, that's fine.
Ya'll have fun with the gaming and BSG and celebrities and things that i don't want to play while I am out of town.
(Speaking of, Michael, if you are reading this, that weekend after you left, when we gamed at Dennis's, there was no BSG, nor Celebrities. Do you really think i would play both of those, of my own free will???)
Chris: Sorry to hear about the computer (didn't you just get it fixed or something?) I can email the address to your house to Jonathan of no one else has yet. I should still have it somewhere in my geekmail.
