Just in time for the Holidays...
...my 11 month old X-Box 360 Elite snuffs it! There I was, vainly trying to chase down Jon's gamer score in Fallout 3, slaying mutants, deathclaws, and mean guys in power armor when my console freezes. I reboot to be greeting with three very bright flashing red lights. Noooooo!
Oh well... thank goodness for the 3-year warranty. I guess its time to try some of those old PS2 games I never got around to playing... Anyway, hopefully I'll be back in commission in a month or so.
I other news, a package finally made it to my house from Germany containing the two new Duel in the Dark expansions. The Baby Blitz expansion is particularly interesting, as it turns the tables in the game with Germany now serving as the attacker. Component quality is very high and doesn't seem to suffer from the original release's toxic mold smell.
In any event, thank you for indulging my need for a cathartic blog posting. I feel a bit better now. I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season.

Oh dear,
So much for the no RROD on elites :(. That sucks.
If they could put a start button on the Notre Dame football program, I imagine it would look much the same way.
Sorry, Ben. Couldn't resist. :)
Ouch! Yes, except if the ND Football Program were a video game console, in addition to flashing three red lights it would melt down into a radioactive sludge, explode, then burn my house down in the process.
I'm seeing a few forum posts of a sudden rise in RRoD's having been caused by NXE. Probably apocryphal...
Well, it was a running joke with Jon that you were trying to see how fast you could RROD your XBOX every time we saw you "away" on Live.
And no jokes about ND from my end.
The Broncos have lost to the Raiders AND the Chiefs this year.
And I don't even want to comment about LSU football at the moment.
I think being "Away" for 10+ hours at a time may have helped you towards this goal, but thank goodness for warranties.
Yesterday my X-Box froze while I was playing fallout and I had my fingers crossed when I powered down and restarted my console.
Also, in about an hour or so I should have 1000/1000 in fallout.
Alright, finished with fallout.
I only put in 78 hours of play time.
Now I need to get a new game.
Very possible. Perhaps not quite prudent to blame the baby at this point.
Congrats on completing. I eventually need to go back to my saves and earn the evil and neutral achievements. Shooting the hell out of Megaton should get me there perhaps.
CoD: 5 isn't bad, but its very similar to CoD:4. The Pacific beach landing mission is pretty amazing and worth at least a rental for the shear spectacle. Probably the best WW2 beach landing I've seen in a video game thus far. Flamethrowers in high grass vs. banzai charging Japanese is pretty amazing as well.
God bless it, am I the only one who overwrites saves on the way?
Argh....I just hate the clutter of 500+ saves. I recycle the same 10 or so saves which means no going back to get those alignment achievements.
I listened to a podcast with the lead Fallout 3 designer where he suggested playing the full game three times in order to get the achievements.... Madness! I hit level 20 around 50% through the game, which was in a way pretty disappointing. I wanted to keep power leveling! Also after I had a full arsenal of unique elite weapons it didn't make much sense to continue crafting. Still, I'd say a worthy addition to the Fallout series... of course, I still have about 25% of the game to complete.
I am playing a little Fallout 2 on my PC (in between baby care sessions). Wow, what an amazing game this was for its time.
Michael, after finishing the game I have about 900 saves.
900 saves?? Didn't you also have the strategy guide open the whole way? Cough Cough Carebear Cough...
