Diplomacy, Gaming Philosophy

I am curious within SABG of how our members would relatively rank the values of the various Diplomacy potential outcomes: win, 2 way-7 way draw, 2nd-6th place survival; 3rd-7th place eliminations? I am curious not just for diplomacy but of course as it points to a wider gaming philosophy. Am i the only one who finds this an intriguing question?

Oh, it's a frequent question. It used to come up when I played Supremacy (among others) because some felt that "everyone lose == draw" and others felt "everyone lose == loss"

ST:TNG resolved a silly episode by that, actually. Stupid ST:TNG.

There was a great computer game called MULE back in the day... it was really structured like an interactive board game. At the end of the game, the players were ranked 1-4, but the entire "society" was also ranked. So you could be 1st place of a starving colony... It was interesting to incorporate that - and a challenge to be 1st place, but of a strong economy. Some pretty good game theory at work...
