B-29 Superfortress

Anyone ever played B-29 Superfortress? It's a new solitaire game, based on B-17 Queen of the Skys. I've seen mixed reviews on both and I'm curious if anyone in our group has experience with either game and could give their opinion.

I played B-17 in either high school or colege. It did not belong to me and I recall playing with a buddy. I did not know anything about the B-29 game.

I do remember playing more than once and enjoying B-17

My understanding is that its the ASL version of B-17, i.e., ultra-detailed and ultra-complicated. I played a fair bit of B-17 in high school when it first came out. Unfortunately I just couldn't get excited about the game. My notoriously bad die rolling led to almost almost every mission resulting in hot, flaming death for my poor crew.

MArk mentions that B29 is solitare, but I recall playing with someone else. Was I wrong about the game?

Carlos: you are correct. B-17 was a 1 or 2 player game. B-29 is 1 player according to the publisher but BGG users say it can be played by 1 or 2.

I'm interested in feedback on either game, since they both seem to be the same basic game, just PTO vs ETO.

They're definitely not the same game. B-17 is much less complex and essentially a beer/pretzels game, whereas B-29 is a full-blown complex sim.

In high school I enjoyed naming my B-17 crew after my friends, family, and pets. I always made my sister's annoying poodle the tail gunner, i.e., she almost never survived.

Thanks Ben. My only exposure to either game is the BGG entries.
