A Call to Duty, Saturday Board Gaming

Hornsfan01 (aka Chris) and I have made plans to play Combat Commander plus probably other various amazingly fun board games on Saturday at his pad. I'll leave the further posting of the hosting to him, but I thought a mid-week planning post might get things rolling.

I wouldn't be averse to getting the band back together. The nice thing is, with my current sleep schedule, saturday gaming won't intrude on my sleep at all, except if it runs over past my 6pm bedtime.

I also wouldn't be averse to Doom, Starcraft, or TI3, or some other of that ilk.

I'm in. (It's cool how we can do all this planning without Chris even officially inviting us :) ). The family is out of town and won't be back until late Saturday, so I'm free and clear.

I an 80% sure that I can stop by for a while. Other than the combat commander game what do people think will be played? I have had a serious shortage of Euro games these days.

And how does one go about getting directions?

Unrelated to Saturday gaming, but I wanted to make sure that someone responds to this guy:

Done. But it probably wouldn't hurt if others chimed in.

Yep, it's officially ok for everyone to show up. :) As always, the more the merrier.

Tiffany, send me a msg on BGG.

I'll send you directions.

I miss the Euros, too. I can't remember my last Puerto Rico, and I've never played Caylus, Die Macher, or Tigris & Euphrates, all of which I want to at some point. Other than Power Grid (does that count?), I think my last Euros were an aborted attempt at Brass at BGG.con in November, Thebes in October, and Phoenicia back in August. Wow! Of course, it would help if I owned some of those. I figure one of these weeks, Rob will swing back here and we'll get some of those in (maybe at Jeff and Amy's? I know they like Euros as well). But I think we have a reasonable shot of getting Mr. Jack played this weekend at my place, Tiffany--not a Euro, but I know you mentioned it earlier.

Michael, I'm definitely interested in TI3. Problem is, we never really have enough of the crowd that wants to play it (Chad, where did you go?). Let's evaluate the situation when people show up. If we have enough that want to play, we'll start it. (If not, no sweat--we have plenty of games, and I don't want to scare off the non-TI3 gamers.) I have a feeling Ben would defer Combat Commander to the afternoon or another session in return for TI3.

If we get a big crowd, I'd also vote for Cash & Guns (if someone can bring it and Yakuzas) or even Kutschfahrt--something that everyone can play.

I also have Puerto Rico and Notre Dame and Pirates, err Cartegena or something like that, Fjords, which is very much two player. So i can bring some of those if you wish to play any of those.

Chris -- ill message you when i et home for directions.

TI:3 only needs four to play well. Six is wonderful, but four is enough. With Chris, Michael, and I, we'd only need one more... for 4-6 hours or so.

I keep thinking about Star Craft, then I remember the 50 page rulebook I'm now fuzzy on again. Headless Hollow just published a reference sheet on the game, so perhaps this will be enough to bring it back.

In any event, I'll be ready to play CC and Mr. J too. Saturday is a magically short running day for me so I should be able to start moving counters and dice right at 0900 hours.

I have to work for 4 hours on Saturday, so I'll come over as soon as I'm finished.

I'm in, though I'm more into gaming than rocking this week -- I'm sad about missing out on Doom.

I'll also have special Pizza Box Football team sheets for the Patriots and Giants, if someone would like to play out the Super Bowl with me.

What? So demon hellspawn is our Yoko?

Oh...maybe that makes sense.

I'll still bring the goods just in case.

Quick quiz. Was demon hellspawn referring to Doom or the Patriots?

Dennis,
I would love to take you up on the football; but my odds of attendance are zero unless I have somebody I can call to see if folks are still around when I free up and even with that low and needless to say late if it all works out. Perhaps next weekend?
Scott
