There goes the neighborhood: An Introduction
Greetings, everyone!
I am moving to San Antonio from Sacramento, CA in mid-August. I work as an IT Ops Analyst for USAA. Once the fog of moving lifts, I'll be interested in getting into some board gaming, or any other sort of gaming, really. I enjoy rpgs, Magic The Gathering as well. On the boardgame front, I'll try anything once, but have a fondness for cooperative games like Arkham Horror or Battlestar Galactica.
I'll also be happy to hear of any recommendations of game stores, etc. So far, the Dragon's Lair seems pleasant.
I look forward to meeting all of you!

You had us at hello. Welcome aboard!
Did someone say Arkham? Welcome!
Did someone say Magic?
Did someone say Settlers: Cities and Knights?
Oh wait, I guess not...
Don't worry, Chris. I'd play Settlers, too.
Thanks, Ben and Dennis!
And yes, Jeff, someone said "Magic".
Did someone say moving to SA?
I am too in 2 weeks!
Rob, where are you moving from?
He is coming back to us from Houston or around thereabouts. He finally realized he couldn't live without us.
Personally, you had me at "Battlestar Galactica". But I'm sure everyone already knew that.
Michael, are you as excited as I am about the Pegasus expansion coming in the fall? Are you also a fan of the show?
I'm much more a fan of the game than the show. I haven't actually watched the final season yet. But I am pumped up about Pegasus.
Rob, you'll be back just in time for us to play Hellenes. Excellent.
Anne, I think you'll fit in well with the group. Perhaps too well... I am beginning to suspect you are an ellaborate hoax cooked up by the Great Deceiver, Jon.
Ben, you're half-right. I'm elaborate, but not a hoax!
Anne, in our group there are no cooperative games. I mean, we play them, but they aren't cooperative. At all. Just so you know. I'm was confused about your job, until I realized you didn't say UTSA but USAA. Because UTSA has a hiring freeze on. But USAA ... the beast must be fed.
Brian, the beast is not being fed, per se. I've been a USAA-ling for 16 years now. I'm just transferring here from Sacramento. In face, our staffing has been fairly constant company-wide.
I suppose I should clarify then: I fancy uncooperative cooperative games. ;p
Hello Anne, wecome to San Antonio. Sorry that this is a little late. I think that you will really enjoy this gaming group. I am not as active in it as I would like to be, but I try to host a big game once in a while.
I also work at USAA - great place! And while I am not a Magic: The Gathering player several of my close friends at the office are and they have a community that plays during lunch and they meet at different homes to play. So hopefully this will make your transition here a bit easier.
Thanks, Carlos! I report to the Home Office 8/10. So I'll definitely be interested in learning of the Magic community!
