Gaming Thoughts

FFG continues to churn out game news at a dizzying pace (although not the one I want most). Coming in the fall: Battlelore Heroes. It looks like the game will be in good hands with FFG. I'm still not particularly enthusiastic about investing any more in this game, but I'll give it some thought.

Warriors of God is back in stock, for a while at least.

And a certain $200 board game will apparently follow suit.

Texas and LSU square off tonight for the CWS championship.

As far as gaming this weekend, I'm kind of between a rock and a hard place. I was supposed to take some electronic stuff to get recycled this weekend at some recycling event that only sweeps through town every now and then. (By the way, anyone interested in taking a free 27" TV off my hands before I donate it to charity? It works fine, but it's a bit heavy.) It's on Saturday at 9am. I would like to play games as well, but I work on Sunday, so Saturday is it for me as far as gaming options go. I might host--haven't decided yet--but if I did, it would either be a late start or I'd have to wait another few months to drop off my electronic garbage. I might go somewhere else if there was gaming there. I guess I should ask if anyone's around this weekend to play.

Weekend playing is doable.

I might even be able to have people over. Maybe.

And you mentioned a TV? My extra TV decided that it did not wish to have sound any longer, so I might be willing to take that off your hands.

I will be out this weekend; my oldest daughter just flew in so I am sure we will be bouncing around all weekend.

I return on Saturday, and should probably spend Sunday with my bride. But Monday is a plan.

I am probably out for this weekend; too much work to do around the house. I am also probably out for Monday, my first day of my new job with my new company. If either changes I will post an update.

That settles it. My BattleLore collection is getting dumped. Even the Heroes expansion looks.... ZZzzzz... Huh? What? I must have fallen asleep.

I'm saving my kitchen pass for now...

Yeah.... I still haven't had the cajones to pop the shrink on my A&A: Anniversary Edition yet... I feel like I need to open a bottle of fine wine and perhaps take a day off work for the occasion.

Dude, the heroes expansion looks pretty cool. It actually might keep me from selling my set.

I don't know about the WoW expansion though... is that going to make the game 2-3 hours longer? It's already ~8hrs long.

Never been much of an AA fan, but a 50th anniv edition was strangely alluring.

BTW, got LnL Heroes of the Blitzkrieg.... yet another 12 scenarios for a game I have barely even touched.

Wow, what a bunch of party poopers. Everyone is either busy or panning the games I mentioned. You guys are no fun at all.

That's ok. I probably needed to be productive on Saturday and get to bed early with a workday looming on Sunday.

That being said, we can plan for an Independence Day Eve gathering at my place for July 3rd if that sounds ok. It sounds like Ben may have his pass recharged by then.

Tiff, the TV is yours. We can figure out the details later--no hurry.

And hats off to LSU. They beat Texas 11-4, claiming the national championship in college baseball in convincing fashion. The first game of the three was actually the closest, with LSU coming through with a two-run double with two outs in the ninth to tie it and eventually winning it in 11 innings.

Is it college football season yet? ;)

I'm probably out for this weekend. On the 3rd I'm playing bridge at the San Antonio regional tournament. Hopefully I'll do well. I may swing by for a bit, though.

I'll be getting family photos done on July 3rd, but 4th and 5th are clear. I'm doing another 20 miler on the 5th starting at 5AM, but after a massive gatorade and breakfast taco transfusion I would be ready to go.

Hey, my Brute is 11 today.

Holy cow, Michael Jackson is dead.

So.... a new version of Twilight Struggle is coming... I guess I'll be buying the game for the third time now.

I could switch it to the 4th, but I thought more people would be out doing stuff with their families. If you have a preference for next week, let me know, but its sounding better right now for July 4th than July 3rd.

There's a thread on BGG that says that the downloadable Blood Bowl has SecuROM which many people say just kills computers dead. In addition, apparently the current version has only limited activations before it just won't work anymore. I have no idea how valid these concerns are, but just the same I think I'll wait until there's a version with a less hostile DRM.

Maybe Sunday the 5th instead of the 4th?

I'm pretty much resolved to wait for the X-Box 360 version of Blood Bowl.

I had my days mixed up. I have to work on the 3rd. Maybe we can do the 5th. I'll post next week and people can chime in.

4th or 5th is good for me. We have work on the 3rd.

The 3rd, 4th, or 5th are all possible for me.

Bad news update:
Michael told me today that he got the dreaded 3 red rings of death on his XBox.

I played a bit of 1 vs 100 live tonight. I quit after I saw this question:

Which of the following did Ben Franklin NOT invent?
A) Bifocals
B) Franklin stove
C) Lightning

First, the One had to ask for help. Second, the Mob (who he trusted) almost let him down. THIRTY-TWO PEOPLE out of 100 didn't know that Ben Franklin didn't actually INVENT LIGHTNING.

So, yeah, be careful out there. We officially live in a world of idiots.

So that is now 2 elites that have RRODed that we know of right?

This was a pretty nice surprise birthday gift though.

I have my hard drive on my dads xbox now so I can still do stuff.

I beat the guy who completely dominates me at UFC for the first time with a flash KO via elbow. I'm still aglow in that victory.

Also SecureROM and other DRM methods of its ilk are 100% the devil. I would not recommend fooling around with that.

wow, how dumb indeed that people don't know that it was thomas edison who invented lightning

july 5th good day for games

I am now the proud owner of an XBox and Rock Band II. Now I just have to bandage my wrist and ice down my shoulder.

Aidan is getting shockingly good at drums (considering his age). He's hit 85% on easy, and has done a song or two on medium...

I'll try to connect my box to the internet later tonight or tomorrow...

Well gamertags to add as friends (this is much easier if you link the gamertag to your computer and do it there):
Ardneh42 - Jon
Cookar - Me
Hornsfan01 - Chris
JS iZ PRO - Steve/Jake
Mister Meats - Simon/probably Dana since he never joins parties
Notre Dame 89 - Ben
rCub3 - Rob
StompK - Sean
Uethym - Dennis
Was that you who was sending me an invite to play earlier?

At 4:56 PM, June 27, 2009, Blogger Unknown said...

I don't think Chris sold his Rock Band 1 disc back so if you want to transfer those to your HD I bet you can bum the disc off of him sometime. I think the license fee is around 5 bucks or so to get 55 more songs available to play.

Including Maps!

Maaaaa-aaaaaaaaaaaaaa-aaaaaaaaaaa-aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-aaaaaaaaaaps...

(shudder)

It's in the library whenever you want to check it out, Brian.

Oh, and Jon, I'll get your BSG discs back to you next time you're over here. I'm going to get the complete series when it comes out in about a month. That way, I don't feel too bad if it takes me three years to watch it all (which it will).
