Race to DLair on Monday

Thanks to Chris for hosting... as an especially gracious host, Chris managed to get in his copy of the Race for the Galaxy expansion. I like it, but I think I'm ready to ditch the tiles. I'll play with them, but it makes things more random. On the plus side, it looks like Buck Roger's graphic designer got drunk and wrote a haiku.

Anyway, I'll be a DLair on monday. Will the race expansion be in? Dominion? You?

RSVP in the comments.

Not sure about Monday.

I just remembered. In the SEC, the tiebreaker in that armageddon situation that you described is BCS ranking.

We'll probably know more about what that means for you when we find out where you end up in the polls tomorrow.

I may be there on Monday. It depends how I'm recovering from surgery to have my heart transplanted back into me after having it ripped out Saturday night.

(brief thread hijack to continue Michael's thought):

Tiebreakers for Big 12 football division champion if three or more teams are tied:

Follow 1-7 until a winner is determined.
1) Records against other teams involved in the tiebreaker
2) Division record
3) Records against division teams not involved in the tiebreaker
4) Records against common conference opponents
5) BCS ranking
6) Best overall winning percentage
7) Draw

Texas really needs TT to lose twice to have a chance to make it to the Big 12 championship game.

Texas goes as long as TT is not involved in a one-loss tiebreaker because they own head-to-head over OU and OK State. For that reason, they would win a two or three-way tiebreaker with those teams.

If TT loses no games, it's academic. If they lose ONE game, then Texas needs the team that beat Tech to be the OU/OK State winner to even have a shot. The problem is that, with each division team having only one in-division loss, the tiebreaker will likely not be broken by 1-4 above, so it will go to BCS standings.

If the three teams in a tiebreaker are OU/OK State winner, Texas, and Tech, then Texas' loss will have been the middle of those losses (OU/OK State winner lost their one game before Texas, and Texas will have lost their game before Tech).

If we EVER hope for Tech to drop below Texas in the BCS with a late-season loss (despite owning the head-to-head), then we would have to probably expect that Texas will similarly drop in the BCS below OU with the loss against Tech (because it occured more recently) and will not catch them. Texas might still stay ahead of OK State in the BCS even with one loss, though, which is why I'm rooting for OK State to win out.

It's still early.

I need sleep.

I can't believe that bell jerk won. I bet he'll be ringing his bell all night long.

I should be there Monday. After all I need to keep myself occupied before my time point at 11:30 pm :) And my Agricola now has new shiny stickers. And I have the carriage 'expansion' for Mr Jack. Which I would eventually like to play. Just saying.

Poll voters are inherently stupid, but I would think more weight should be given to a neutral site win or loss than a road loss.

There would be definite justification for a 1-loss Texas to be ranked above both a 1-loss (to Oklahoma) Texas Tech and a 1-loss Texas Tech (by virtue of the losing late phenomenon).

Neither of them play Missouri right? You also have that going for you.

Worst sports week in a long time. Two down to the wire Spurs losses. Cowboys reeling. The easiest season-on-the-line interception you could ever hope for, dropped. And the most interesting man in the world no longer exists.

Monday, I'm there. The Texas game was incredible, except that it went the wrong way at the end. The Cowboys are much less entertaining when they lose.
