Gamers Wanted

Monday at Dragon's Lair. The bag, as always, has a few games (or expansions) making their first appearance in a while, to try to knock down my unplayed games. I'll bring Strat-o-matic (if any of my opponents are ready).

(And Jeff, I'll bring Schoko & Co. Ben, did you want Civ?).

Yep, I want Civ.

I won't be appearing on Monday except for a brief appearance on the way home to say hello and maybe pick up another SWPM booster or two (its a sickness).

Baseball season begins tonight!

For those of you who now have a copy of the game, we will be using the Advanced Rules, plus Super-Advanced Rule 27 (Pitcher Endurance), except for 27.51 (all starters need precisely three days rest). Got that?

Round 1 schedule:

Yankees (Brian) at Twins (Michael)
A's (Jon) at Tigers (Ted)
Padres (Sean) at Mets (Mark)
Dodgers (Chris) at Cards (Dennis)

Each matchup is two games. Remember to keep score and turn in all scoresheets to me (I have tons of blank ones to distribute). Once all of the games are completed, or the stragglers have a make-up date set, we'll move on to Round 2.

I'll be there by 6pm tonight (the 281 South to 410 West overpass has finally been completed, greatly reducing my commute).

Let the baseball season commence! At least one series will happen tonight (Dodgers/Cardinals)! I'll be there between 4 and 5pm.

The first two games of the season are now in the books.

GAME 1

Dodgers 3--8--0
Cards 1--8--1

The game was a pitcher's duel, 1-0 in favor of the Dodgers entering the 8th inning. But a leadoff triple by Kenny Lofton and an RBI single by J.D. Drew gave the Dodgers their insurance run and a win to Derek Lowe (6IP, 3H, 0R, 1BB, 3K, RBI in 2nd inning). Closer Takashi Saito gave up a run on three straight singles in the 9th, but closed out the save with two strikeouts.

GAME 2

Dodgers 1--5--1
Cards 3-10--0

Part-time starter Anthony Reyes pitched the game of his life (7IP, 4H, 1R, 0BB, 7K) to even the series. David Eckstein (?!?) continued his scrappy hitting, totalling 2 doubles, 3 singles, and an RBI on 8AB in the series. J.D. Drew once again led the Dodgers in slugging with a solo HR in the 4th.

Now get playing those other games!

Mark - I don't have your contact info. Are we going to try and do a make-up on another monday, or should we schedule a game sometime this week?

Sean: I could do a makeup this week on Thursday PM or Saturday AM. I will also be at DL Monday for the usual session if you want to just make it up then.
