Let the planning begin

So i will be there Monday.
With my new games in tow.

I will bring Amyitis and Metropolys again. Likely Agricola. I want to try and learn Hermagor and/or Hanging Gardens before Monday. And Fiji. The lovely Friedmann Friess game about shrunken head collecting.

So who all shall be joining the fantasticness that is Monday Night Gaming?

Hmm?

Darcy wants to know.

I should be there and will also play any of the above; I must say the fiji subject matter sounds the most interesing. I also have a question for those of you who have had Civ IV and BTS for years. I just had to get a new computer and thus reload Civ IV and BTS; I am wondering what mods and patches are worth the space and effort and which are wastes of time and space. Any thoughts?

Too bad we don't have a Civ IV expert in the group.

I'm likely there for Monday. What was the verdict on Amyitis last time? It sure looked nice.

Will Jeff keep up his amazing streak of Monday nights? Can't wait to find out.

I'll be there, saying "Feh" to new games. (But I'll play them. I just have to keep up my curmudgeon card for union reasons).

Well -- other than a slight misread on one of the rules I really enjoyed Amyitis. I think Jeff and Sean did as well, but they will have to speak for themselves on the matter, and I cannot recall how Travis felt.

MY first impression was that i was really pleased with the game, but I need to play it a few more times to solidify that feeling.

A little bird once told me that Fall from Heaven 2 was a good Civ IV mod... Of course, it will steal a good chunk of your life, so beware.

Well, I think there is a chance I can answer this question in the form of a string of links:

official 3.17 BTS patch - http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=9800

solver's unofficial 3.17 patch patch http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=9826

This fixes some problems that were created or left unresolved in the official 3.17 patch.

BUG mod (BTS unaltered gameplay mod) This will be nice when you are playing standard BTS as it makes the interface much more friendly. - http://civ4bug.sourceforge.net/

Fall From Heaven 2 - be sure to download the latest patches for it too - http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=1

I think that is a pretty comprehensive list to get you started.

Also, if you add up the total time I have spent playing Civ IV, it is certainly less than years. No need to exaggerate.

So does that mean the general consensus is that only the Fall from Heavan mod/scenario is worthy out of the original ones that come with BTS?

Not the FFH mod that comes with BTS. The good FFH mod is downloaded separately. The Rhyse and fall mod thing is supposed to be interesting too but I wasn't grabbed by it the same way.

What do I need to do to apply the unofficial patch, patch? I could download it but am missing something on what I need to do to actually execute/apply it?

Copied from forum:
The current version is a zip file that should be extracted to your BtS install directory. It's suggested that you back up the original files first manually. The zip also includes several files .cpp files in the CvGameCoredll folder. Those are for modders. Basically, if you don't know what those files are, don't worry - you don't need them.

Your bts folder is going to be something like

C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\

I know what those files are for, and don't need them.

Just FYI.
