Monday--

Anyone? Yes? No? Maybeso?

I would be willing to attend. Why break the tend of burying myself in boardgaming as a means of avoidance? Hmm?

Mk, off to work I go.

I will be there. Not sure if I'll be there at 5pm or 6-6:30, but I'll be there.

Looks like 6:30.

I'm not going to make it. In the mean time I'll be stickerizing wooden blocks and continuing a great game of Twilight Struggle with Jeff via ACTS.

....oh, and trying to survive for more than a day in Urban Dead!

I should be there about 6 or so. Depends on the might amounts of traffic along medical.

And yes, Rob, I suppose that it would be simplest to say that I am avoiding real life. And working too much.

I just traded Kingsburg for a stickerized copy of Asia Engulfed. Woo hoo!

So you were serious about trading/selling it, Ben? It wasn't that bad a game, really it wasn't. But I will say that trading it for a stickerized copy of anything that you enjoy is a good thing.

Way to trade up Ben!

Calling our TS game great is very polite. Everything I do seems to roll off Ben's back, but everything he does crushes my very soul.

I'll show up and be around for a bit. I can actually show up at 5 or 5:30 but it doesn't sound like anyone else is going to be around yet. I'll check back here and see if anyone is going to show up earlier.

Jeff: Sounds like fun from Ben's POV...

Jeff:

You're doing well for your first play of the game. There is a learning curve with card-driven wargames based on knowing when certain cards will show up, and I've played this game at least 10 times. I think this adds to the intensity of the game (e.g., War of the Ring), when you know the card you need is bound to come up soon, so you bet the world on it doing so...

My die rolling for the Space Race is as bad as I've come to expect, with multiple American chimp getting blasted into oblivion on the launch pad, while the first earthling in space, Laika, happily watches from orbit.

Is there a graphical interphase to ACTS, or is this all you guys see? I think I like Vassal MUCH better. I'm a sucker for a nice graphical interphase.

That's all we see on ACTS, but I play with Vassal simultaneously. ACTS tracks the cards and die rolling, Vassal is the board. I'd use Vassal exclusively, but it doesn't do PBEM as far as I can tell.

I agree Vassal is better for live play with Skype.

Wargame Room looks quite intriguing for live play as well, though I haven't tried it. Apparently Wargame Room enforces the game rules as you play and the new modules look almost as good as Vassal.
