Hannibal: Rome vs. Carthage Pre-Orders Open
Yesterday pre-orders for Valley Games' Rome: Hannibal vs. Carthage officially opened. All pre-orders include as a bonus a set of plastic generals to use in lieu of the cardboard stands normally featured with CDGs.
Though I doubt I was one of the first to place the required $0.01 deposit down for a copy, I'm certain pre-orders are progressing briskly. Has anyone else in the group pre-ordered? I suspect we'll have almost as many copies in SABG as players.

It looks like Brian (from the forums), you and I have one preordered.
I have also.
Sure, why not...
That auction is hilarious. I suspect everyone with a copy is tempted to dump it quickly now before knowledge of the new edition spreads. Nice to know profits can still be made through spotting inefficiency in the marketplace.
I don't see anything obviously funny. But I'm normally not a funny guy.
I can think of several Avalon Hill games that I would like to see reprinted and redesigned. I must admit that I don't recall this one, but back in the early 80s I was quite fond of Kingmaker. I would like to see this one redesigned.
I didn't see a joke per se, but the current bid when I checked was $130.
The strange thing is that I would expect anyone who wants this game to know about the reprint...
Well, my first reaction when I saw that page was like "huh huh, dumbass'es".
Carlos, if you like Kingmaker, the new War of the Roses by Columbia Games is supposed to be along those lines.
Just because the game is being reprinted doesn't mean the older version is without value. Sure from our perspective it seems silly, but there're always different points of view, no?
Perhaps having an original addition with the AH logo would be a recherche' piece for their collection for some, but I would think this would be a small minority, as long as Valley doesn't screw up the new edition (...cough, cough, Hollywood Blockbuster... cough). There isn't a single copy of Die Macher going for over $40 on E-Bay right now, whereas before I believe prices over $100 weren't uncommon.
Yeah, but give Die Macher time and the old prints will return. You can't judge the market in short term snapshots.
alright... forget my post above
