San Antonio Board Gamers

San Antonio Board Gamers
SABG-Con MLK weekend

I looked at the cost for renting a conference room for the MLK weekend (Jan 12-15). The cost will be around $150-200/day. It doesn't look good to host at a hotel, but we're probably be willing to host at our house. Our kids will probably want to play and/or I'll figure out something else to do with them.

So if ten of us show up... about $20/day...plus hotel?... hmmm

What about just renting some other conference room? Do we even have such a thing (ie rentable conference rooms not in a hotel) here in SA?

There are a butt-ton of office buildings that rent out conference rooms. We use the Colonade at work for anyone high profile. I'm not sure what the rates are though... Or if they'd like a bunch of people carting bags of games around their five star lobby...

Amy and I have two tables big enough to accomodate Railroad Tycoon, plus a long folding table, and the coffee table. No point in spending cash on a conference room when we have free facilities that can easily support ten gamers. I don't mean to usurp Jacqui's (and Brian's) offer of hosting, but it seems silly to go to the trouble of renting a room.

If we have it at our house, I'll also volunteer to cook some meals. A few years ago BC (before children), Brian and I attended BillCons in Baltimore. I cooked some meals there, too.
