Tiffany and I might be a wee bit late tomorrow...
I had some friends over to play a wee MTG draft, but Tiffany hung out and we ended up playing Battlestar Galactica until 3 in the morning. We introduced a noob to the game. The humans won. And Galactica was running on fumes.
Good times. But now we're bushed. See y'all tomorrow!
To be fair, it's intimidating for players who haven't played much to play with those who played 60+ times in the first three weeks the game came out. I've been accused falsely of being a cylon for sub-optimal play when I've played less than five times - and half of those games I've had my hand played for me, as folks have been helpful, but pushy...
I'm not saying that the experienced players are doing it wrong - just that it's tough in a cooperative game with two different experience levels.
Sean is right, there is very little ability to learn and to chose what you want to do. It feels, most times, like one it told what to do. And if one deviates, one is a cylon, and one must pay. It is not a fun way to play the game. It feels more like I am a body in the chair, and not a player. One could play just as well with my hand, and me not there.
Just my opinion. Playing with Anne, Erin and Jerry was different. Maybe cause we had all played about the same. Maybe cause there was the ability to chose. And there was discussion. Not the understood group mentality of we know how this works. We know when to punt this. Its very mechanical when you all play. And thats not fun. But thats just by five cents.
What I said was if I am in the right mood, with the right group of people I will play. And there was 4 beers and some run and cider involved. Just saying.

I thought she hated BSG.
I think she just hates BSG with us.
I don't like the game. But with the right people, in the right conditions, I will play.

I wasn't judging. Just quoting, actually.
It's been far too long since we had a good old fashioned rant.
