Baby Name Game
And in other news, my wife Amy did a wonderful job delivering our new baby this morning. Baby and Mom are doing very well, and we're all thrilled at the new addition. Notice how I'm saying Baby a lot? That's because despite taking almost eight months to pick out a name for our new little girl, she decided to play a prank on us and grow a wiener. So we're now picking out boy names... And yes, that is our third boy for those keeping track at home.

Congrats. Good luck picking out the name! :)
Oh dear. Getting the sex wrong is generally what we consider to be "bad form." No, it's not 100% accurate by sono, but it should be damn close. If we're not sure, we don't guess or say "it's PROBABLY a girl." We just say "We're not sure."
But the other thing we say is that when mom and baby are healthy, all other things are minor in comparison. Congratulations!
Yes, the doctor did say he was going to go straight back to the office and give whatever sonographer(?) did the "reveal" a hard time... We specifically asked at the time - "a reading of girl can be inconclusive, right?", and were told they were pretty positive it's a girl.
It's a good story, though, and we're thrilled to have him in our family - just threw a wrench in our naming and clothing plans for him!
Holy cow! Congratulations!
I guess neither of us were considering potential impacts on our attendance of BGG Con 40 weeks or so ago...
Woot! Congrats! See you in six months!
Congrats, Sean, Amy, and Baby! Now, Sean, stay home and take care of Amy and your new addition!
I have an older brother. So when my parents were getting ready to have me, they assumed, based on their firm understanding of probability, that I would have to be a girl. They even had a named picked out -- Angela.
You'd think they would've noticed something was up sooner, since I was 9-3/4 lbs at birth. But there it was, a boy, and no named picked out. They briefly considered Angelo, but eventually went with Dennis because they were so accustomed to calling my badly-behaved toddler brother "Dennis the Menace".
I've always wondered if my life would have turned out differently if I were Angelo.
So congratulations! But think carefully....
So, you're going to BGG con tomorrow, then?
I say you stick with Sue as a name.
Congrats!
Yep... six months seems about right... I'm learning to cherish my X-Box for providing brief gaming respite during baby nap periods.
Way to go!
Have his peripheral vision checked immediately. Not being able to see the outermost drum in Rockband might run in the family.
"Angelo" clearly would've ended up in the porno industry. Avoid this name, Sean.
List his birthplace as Peruela. You'll thank me later when he aces his Rorschach test.
Actually Brian, I am... I may never live it down... but my lovely wife is very understanding, and likes how helpful and happy I am when I return from the con. :) It's also kid #3 - a friend of mine once told me "You treat your first kid like fine china, and your second like tupperware". All bets are off now! I'm heading back home early on Sunday, and figure I won't be any more sleep deprived than if I'd stayed home. Amy has her mom in town helping out, so there's all of my justifications!!
BTW - "Sue" is officially Brendan Patrick...
Wow... I'm feeling guilty leaving the house to go to work, let alone BGG. Must resist influence of the Dark Side...
Nice Irish name. He'll fit right in at Notre Dame someday!
Congrats! If you need to wait a few months and swap out let me know; we have several boy names ready but I think we're having a girl.
