Weekend Plans
I seem to have this cloud of nebulous "other stuff" that always needs to get done. I don't ever seem to get it actually done, and somehow the world keeps on going. Still, I suppose I have to make the effort to chip away at these responsibilities.
Anyway, the point is that Saturday pretty much has to be a catch-up day for me. So I can't host or play. I figured I should post something since I seem to host Saturdays pretty regularly, and when I don't post, I'm a bit concerned that I leave other people hanging in limbo. But, I'm willing to open up my house again on Sunday for those that don't get to game and need a bit of a weekend fix (like me). Not trying to shatter SABG habits here. Sundays just have worked out better for me the past few weeks (or more to the point, Saturdays have worked out poorly) and I figure the more, the merrier.
Hmmm...what time? I'm planning on 12-6 again. With luck I can come out to play on Saturdays again soon. (Probably not next Saturday, though, as work rears its ugly head again, and I'll be joining everyone at the Wiles compound next Sunday.)
P.S. How did I go this long without knowing that Rob has a blog of his own now? I just saw it in the banner to the right of the site. Where have I been? I feel like Admiral James Stockdale..."Who am I? Why am I here?"

Saturday is my fantasy football draft, but I am all over Sunday gaming.
my fantasy football draft is labor day but I am afraid I am most likely out for Sunday regardless
So Dennis, did you find any good free resources to help prep for your draft?
I make no promised, but I might be able to come Sunday. Might. OK, let me honest. I was hoping that there would be a post about weekend gaming so I could come. So count me in. Tomorrow is going to be a marathon work day anyways. So I need something fun.
Average Draft Position charts at fantasyfootballcalculator.com are my favorite resource. They show where players have been drafted over thousands of mock drafts, including draft position versus time (so you can see Willis McGahee dropping as injury fears mount).
I will be there, and pretty sure Michael will be also.
Woof Woof.
The SNL sketch where Ross Perot (Dana Carvey) takes Admiral Stockdale (Phil Hartman IIRC) out to the country to get him lost is pretty classic.
I'm guessing youtube doesn't have it.
Our blog is on Mountain time. Who knew?
I'll check on that.... Yes, we were set to GMT -6 (Belize). I suspect Central American hackers.
Yep, I will be there Sunday.
No Successors yet. Phooey!
The Rise of Nations PC games is still good fun.
I cruised Best Buy yesterday. I held Madden 09 in my clutches for a few minutes, then put it back unsure. Mercenaries 2 looks like a game I will enjoy. I have Mercenaries for PS2, but its hard to get past the graphical downgrade from the HD I'm used to.
TTR: Nordic Countries shipped and should be here in a couple days.
FFG's Beowulf 2 is $12.99 on Tanga today. I paid $5 for Kingdoms, which its apparently a clone of, so perhaps not a great deal.
Chris officially hates Perikles, and Steve and I are sad. I blame Steve, as he forgot we were supposed to let Chris win so he'd like the game. Steve couldn't resist the lure of the bloody dagger.
I'm relatively certain Labor Day is available for gaming.
I just want to say that Admiral Stockdale deserves better than how he is remembered. He had an important point to make, but choose a very unfortunate phrase. I quote from Wikipedia:
Stockdale thought that his name would be removed from the ballot when Perot temporarily withdrew from the race in July....
Stockdale was not informed that he would be participating in the October 13 vice-presidential debate ... until a week before the event. He had no formal preparation for the debate, unlike his opponents Al Gore and Dan Quayle.
I suspect I won't be there, and if I am there it won't be until 3pm or so.

I agree completely and I'm glad you mentioned it. I did a fair amount of reading up on him last night out of curiousity. He was remarkably distinguished and served his country well. Plus he was a POW for seven years. I won't even guess what that was like. There's a nice website set up for him.
That respect was part of the reason I linked to the interview rather than some 10 second YouTube snippet. Although I was indeed referring to the sense of confusion that everyone thought his comment seemed to indicate, I thought the interview put the sound bite into proper context.
So Dennis, who drafted Pennington? Just wondering.
Who drafted Merriman? Two torn knee ligaments I hear...nice to find out a day before the draft rather than a day after.
No one took Pennington. We draft defensive teams rather than individual players, but given Merriman's injury, the Chargers D went *way* too early (8th or 9th round, I think).
I'm happy with my team; here are the starters.
QB: Ben Roethlisberger
RB: Clinton Portis, Larry Johnson
WR: Anquan Boldin, Calvin Johnson, Donald Driver
TE: Tony Gonzalez
K: Nick Folk
DEF: Packers
Funniest moment of the draft -- Kurt Warner went three rounds earlier than Matt Leinart.
Yep Chris, like SABG in its infant days, it was getting hard coordinating game nights by email. A blog was once again, the natural way to go. And one with a very similar color scheme (the others on blogger just suck).
BTW... check my link....
Ben's spelunking special spelling, spelled spieling, speiling.

SportsCenter this morning announced that Warner will be starting instead of Leinart, so now it's funny in a new way.
Tony Gonzalez is still playing in the NFL? He was a stud TE back when I did fantasy 6-8 years ago...
