A Rocking Good Time

Many thanks go to Chris for hosting us again this weekend in his usual over-the-top form with many tasty munchies, beverages, and games to be de-shrinked. Thanks also go to Michael for creating the day's main event, lots of Rock Band on the X-Box 360. I absolutely, totally suck at the game, failing the bass on easy, but I had a great time trying and watching the rest of you guys rock out. What a great game.

Besides watching the rock antics, I managed to get in two games of Neuroshima Hex, one of Memoir '44 with the Air Pack, 2-3 games of Race for the Galaxy, and one game of Glory to Rome. Overall, not a bad sampler plate of shortish games.

I finished unlocking all the songs. Next time we get together I'll try to get some good downloadable content beforehand. Nothing out there is super-intriguing to me right at this moment but we'll see.

Dude, David Bowie pack ftw.

So how good are you guys at GH3/RB? I can barely beat GH3 on hard (tier 5 or 6 on expert). RB on expert looks ridiculously easy.

Oh yeah, I'm back from vacation. When's the next session. The party games shall return!

Rob, you were right- Rock Band took center stage (so to speak), but we got a few games in, as Ben mentioned. Plus, the people playing Rock Band certainly seemed to be enjoying themselves (6 straight hours, as Dennis noted afterwards), so I think it all worked out ok.

The "Band" certainly seemed to hit a groove for a while. Shame they broke up at the end of the day. Maybe there will be a reunion tour at some point in the future.

Ben summed it up well: "Best cover band ever." They must be- how many other bands earn a jet just by playing cover songs?

CHris, knew it... I had my own get together over the weekend, and we did Rock Band for 2:30hrs (I pulled it out late when booze had a reasonable time to enhance our music skillz). It was a blast the first time I did it with just 4 about a month ago, but with a crowd (this past weekend) it was 10 times better.

Michael, dude, do you sleep at all? we (Michael, my wife, and I) played a bit of Rock Band last night through XBOX live. Very cool. But we ended at 11pm because he wanted to do Halo with some friends. At this point he had still over 10 songs to finish IIRC..... so he played Halo after 11pm.... probably for 2-3hrs.... then spent another ~2hrs unlocking the rest of the RB songs... wow.

I was beat after 1 hr of Halo, and then ROck Band until 11pm.

Simon. What's your ID? RB's expert is probably Hard on GHIII...meaning that I'm decent on RB at Expert, and almost finished on Hard in GHIII. Haven't tried expert on GHIII. Halo is distracting me.

Bugger... GH3 is sold out everywhere. Not quite ready to step up to the investment in Rock Band. Maybe I'll get the steering wheel instead while I'm waiting. In the mean time, more Mass Effect and killing Tangos in CoD4.

Anyone interested in A&A: Guadalcanal? I have it.

So how good are you guys at GH3/RB?

I lack Misirlou on Expert in GH2 and then I can try Freebird to end it. I finished Hard and have 27 songs done on GH3.

Sle-ep?

These fancy doctor terms are confusing me.

In reality it was only like 8 songs: there are 45 base songs in the tours and then 13 bonus tour songs for 58 total. I had done 50 and thought there were 60 that I needed to do to finish unlocking because my dlc was making it show as 50/60.

Anyway when are we getting the band back together?

Rob is really good on the drums. Singing is pretty good because you don't get any instrument related injuries like drummers calf or guitar elbow/wrist/fingers.

Michael, the drums was the reason I got RB. Not that I've ever played with the real deal, but I've always toyed with the idea of trying the real thing out someday. BTW, I'm hooked on multiplayer Halo.
