In reality, there were a *few* other games played. Interestingly enough, given the group name, nary a board hit the table yesterday. It was all cards.
We started with the ubiquitous Race for the Galaxy (which I still enjoy). Hard to believe that we found two members of the group (Steve and Carlos) that had not yet played a game. I know there are others in the group out there--you can run but you can't hide. We will find you. And you will play. BTW, are the expansions out yet? :-)
Carlos also brought over Cutthroat Caverns. It was enjoyable, although the order in which cards are played (some before a player's attack, some after) was a bit chaotic. I also think the game would be more fun with more direct player-to-player interaction, and I think this might be easier with fewer players. A lot of the time we played, the first or second player to act each round (determined randomly) had a huge advantage over the fifth or sixth player to play. Plus, there needs to be a traitor (it's probably Jon). My overall summation of the game: Won easily.
We finished up with two games of the New and Improved Glory to Rome. The game looks great and has a nice professional finished feel to it. The player aid sheets help immensely. I definitely want to play more of this. I think Brian won both of these games, but someone can correct this if I'm wrong.
Intermixed into all of these games was Halo, Halo, and more Halo. We also saw Rob online several times throughout the day, so Rob, you need to get Halo and join us.
I always thought my place was great to play games. Now, with the XBox 360 back (it's a new replacement unit rather than the old one), suddenly there's a bit of a distracting element present. Hmmm.
Many thanks to Chris for hosting. Its nice to know SABG won't in any way stand between me and my X-Box 360 addiction... On the other hand, I really would like to play more StarCraft and perhaps even Hannibal or 1960....
That was a good time. I was really impressed with Race for the Galaxy, but being that this was my first game I was completly snowed under.
Cutthroat Caverns was fun, but I thought a little too long. I think that the chaos factor that Chris mentioned was inflated by our inexperience with the game. I would not mind playing again, but I doubt that I would get the expansion.
Can some of us start planning a TI3 game ths December? But not this next weekend. I have an office Christmas party and I don't want to have to explaine to everyone that I cannot attend because I will be too tired from Twilight Imperium.

I was going to say that the session report was complete if you consider him a Malevolent Lifeform. Which, I guess, he is.

I will probably pick up Halo 3 this week just for the group experience. I totally suck, but perhaps I can get some assists off the vets.

Must...get ....Halo.... or Assasin's Creed, or Mass Effect....
But my wallet is still recovering from Guitar Hero and Rock Band almost-back-to-back purchases. So maybe Santa Claus....
Ok back to working on developing that Carpal Tunnel... (guitar hero).
