Once More, With FEELING!

We had a good turnout last Saturday for early morning games, but not so much for afternoon/evening gaming. We're not able to host Saturday morning (we'll be at Brian's the night before and there are other things that need doing), but we will once again throw open the house to gaming in the afternoon and evening. We'll start around noon. RSVP in the comments.

You should go to Brian's as well. Game two days in a row. I know you want to.

Awww shucks... I was hoping for another game of WotR, visiting the Crack of Doom at the crack of dawn! Breaking away in the afternoon is probably going to be tough for me, as the crescendo of hammering on my house continues.

If anyone is interested in gaming on Saturday AM, please let me know.

I don't see myself gaming much in the near to relatively distant future, guys. Too many things are going down...

I know you'll all miss me terribly! :P

I blame that blasted Wii! Do we need to schedule a group intervention?

I don't want to be part of a Wii intervention; I want to be part of a Wii session.

Ben - I will definitely miss seeing the sun rise over a besieged Gondor tomorrow.

Yeah, I wish part of it were the Wii... I don't see myself doing much of that either... *sigh*

Simon, I hope whatever it is resolves itself favorably for you in the near future.

Jeff, I'm finding myself obsessed with thinking about WotR strategy, and I can't wait to play again! The main head-scratcher I'm having is how to play the Free Peoples effectively to avoid getting ganked in Mordor by unlucky tile draws.

One option seems to be to keep everyone with the Fellowship until the end when you use them as corruption sponges. Along the way you can rely on cards and strongholds to keep the damage down, perhaps wasting Gandalf the Grey as needed. The addition of Smeagol makes this seem more viable.

Another option is to forego the possibility of a ring victory and disperse all but Gandalf and Pippin/Merry from the Fellowship on turn 1, with a focus on getting a military victory going ASAP. This seems like a very risky approach as it removes time pressure from the Shadow player.

The third option seems to be to be a mixed approach where you split off just Strider with one hobbit and perhaps Boromir only. Dump the hobbit in Fangorn; crown in Minas Tirith; leave Boromir there and move Aragorn back up to Rohan to bolster the defense and/or activate the Armies of the Dead; all the while moving the Fellowship at least one space per turn.

Anyway... enough thread hijacking... I just thought typing it out would help the voices in my head be quiet...

Real life intervened and Dennis is unable to make it, so we're going to cancel.

No gaming on Saturday.
