Combat Commander Secrets ... Revealed!
Given that we're playing Here I Stand on the 28th (see the other planning post), that means that I'd like to get up some ComCom on Weds. Or Friday. And the secret to winning at Combat Commander? A good short game.
cool. I'll be ready then. BTW, it's such a sweet sweet package... cool maps (6), player aids, OOB's, 3 sheets of counters, 3 decks of cards...... can't wait to try it.
Ted, that sounds good. I've got a load of new games, too. Let me see if I can get in to see my chiropractor early - I messed up my back on the 24th (again!) - then we can coordinate on a time.
Meredith and I got in a learning game of Reef Encounter, so I got a little sense of the game. The T&E comparison is in the fact that corals grow, expand, interact, then go away. That's just one aspect to the game, however.
I got this game because I read it has some "big picture" elements in addition to turn-by-turn calculation. This arises from the ability to make some corals permanantly more valuable than others. I'm not sure yet whether the game over-constricts this mechanism.
It has some neat features, but it's too early to render a firm verdict. We both thought game play felt a bit constricted, but I suspect that will open up with further plays. Experimentation is called for.

LOL
I finally got my copy today. SWEEEET....
I could swing by DL this Friday after 1pm, but definitively a no go for Wed.
I have the game coming in next week, so I'm motivated to play as well. Wednesday is out for me as well. Friday is a possibility.
I've lost a lot of the desire for playing war games recently (just not enough time anymore these days!) but this game has me very intrigued...
I MUST play this and BattleLore at some point!
Hmmm... I'm looking at my calendar. I don't see much time to read HIS's manual for Thurs AND CC's by Friday.
My wife actually works tomorrow all day.... if no one tempts me with gaming, I would have enough time to read both.
ComCom can be learned in 20 minutes, for the most part. The basic rules suggest not reading the events and actions (except Op Fire) anyway.

Alright, I'm planning on being there Friday!
I *might* be able to get some gaming time on Fri, but I'm not hopeful...
I'm not sure I was clear on that last post. I'm anxious to play ComCom, and I'm available Wed till about 5 and maybe a little later.
I'm more than happy to play Battle Lore, too.
Plus there's Reef Encounter, which looks pretty cool. Rick, interested on Wed?
man...the only day I can't play. Reading that it's similar to T+E (one of my top rated games), I really want to try it at some point.
that's ReeF encounter btw.

I'm interested...
I'm afraid I'm not free on Wed., but on Thursday and Friday.
So did you guys end up playing this on Wednesday?
