Pre-Independence Day Gamefest, 3 Jul 2006

Come one, come all for an all day gamefest at Dragons Lair on 3 Jul 2006. I'll be there at 1000 AM as the doors open, and I hope to stay until around 10 PM or until my brain turns to jelly. I posted the event on our Google calendar some time ago, but I figured the blog may be an easier way to communicate about the event. Plus, I like the pretty picture of the fireworks.

Games I'm thinking of bringing are:
  • Descent
  • War of the Ring: Battles of the Third Age
  • Warrior Knights
  • Colossal Arena
  • Twilight Struggle
  • Dungeoneer (with expansions)
  • Ra
  • Winner's Circle
  • C&C: Ancients
Of course, the more games the merrier! If you're definitely coming and there's something in particular you'd like to play, just reply to this post. Hope to see you there!

Sounds like fun... but I'll be in Madrid by then.

Changing the subject.... It was nice seeing everyone today even if I only got to play a light game of Family Business (Mare Nostrum would have been sweet). After all, I won with Vendetta, even when everyone was kicking me in the groin from the get go. Metagamers.... Highlight of the game of course, Vendetta (by Jon?) followed by St Valentine's Day Massacre (Ted). Oh the bloodshed...

Simon, we'll do Hecatomb some other time. The deck box I got today actually has a player aid inside...sweet!

Ben, TS tourney will continue when I come back in mid July.

I can't wait to try Hecatomb too. You can sure get a lot of the game for cheap on E-Bay right now.

Family Business never fails to please. Pitch Car was great fun, and I'm going to be doing finger flick exercises until our next game!

My lessons for the evening:

1. Bring more 1-hour group games as fillers. These make good bite size games to play while people are assembling and/or trickling out.

2. For me, a terrible rules explainer, I need to prepare a short rules outline to speak from when teaching a new game.

3. Be more ruthless in Family Business.

Pitch Car needs an outline for the explainer as well as a player aid.

BTW, I just got some geek gold for having my image for Tigris and Eufrates selected as the representative image for the game. Sweet...

I've been getting a bunch of geek gold over the past few days for similar things... mostly obscure Avalon Hill games. Must be another way they've decided to pass out geek gold. Now if I could find a decent way to spend this gold...

So far, it looks like Jon and I are on-board for 3 Jul, with Michael ([onetrackmind]7 ages?[/onetrackmind]) being a maybe if he's back by then. Jeff is also listed on Google as a maybe.

Anyone else? Might be a good day to play hooky... :)
