Patrick Famous Again!

Has anyone else listened to the January 2, 2006 episode (#46b) of the Board Games to Go podcast yet? The host goes on a five minute rant about how he didn't like the people in costume at BGG Con, specifically mentioning the guy in the court jester costume. Get a grip, buddy!

wow. that guy has some serious security issues. If you have a boardgame podcast, you are a geek. People who aren't in the hobby are going to think your weird. I wonder why he takes it so seriously.

Maybe his wife caught him looking at one too many chainmail bikinis...

I do think costumes are pretty annoying at cons, be it gaming/comic/whatever. There may be a ton of people who are geeks but there are still a healthy bunch that are turned off by the hardcore dress-up types. I know I avoided cons in the past with that very fact on my list. I have a sneaking suspicion, however, that the type who dress up would annoy me either way.

Patrick I see as an exception in this case. He's obviously trying to promote his game and draw in a crowd with something eye-catching while being tasteful (although I don't know what your wife was wearing...). I also completely agree that a person owning a boardgame podcast has no room whatsoever to talk.

Total geek.

Well said Simon,

I am in agreement with the chainmail bikinis, but that stuff is distasteful.
