Dragon's Lair, 24 Jan 2006

I just added a proposed event on Tuesday, 24 Jan 2006 to the group calendar. Jon and I are planning on trying out Command and Colors Ancients (1 hour game), and I'm also going to bring my shiny new copy of RR Tycoon. I hope others are able to join in the festivities as well!

As a consolation for my aborted giveaway a few weeks ago, I'm offering a mint, in-shrink copy of the Citadels Dark City expansion to any member of our fair group that needs it. I accidentally ordered it with the new Citadels, not realizing it comes-with in the new version. Just shoot me a note if you want it.

The posted picture isn't exactly a dragon's lair, but it is John Howe, which is just great to look at.

If I had more time...I would make a new post on tonight's gaming session at Jeff's. Still gotta catch some zzzz... work tomorrow.

So when I got there, Amy, Jeff, and Simon where halfway into a game of PR. I wish I could've played. I just decided to watch, and it was actually quite fun still. Amy won by one point after I pointed out that they were finishing the game prematurely (which got Amy like 7 extra points for the win).

Then we played Bohnanza. At last, a game where I won with a decent score. It was great. This is definitively a game that is defined by the group you play it with.

Last but not least, RR tycoon. Very very cool game. I finished last trying to play conservatively by not issuing too many shares. Jeff creamed us all, by doing what the manual warns you about: don't let any player take complete control of the North East. I tried stopping him, but it kinda cost me the game. I can see this being an even better game with 6 players. I give it something like 7-8.

BTW, if I go to DL, I'm bringing Hammer of the Scots again. It will be played someday...oh yes...someday.

I can't make Mondays. Tuesdays are better for me...Oh well.

Lemme' know how C&C: Ancients is.

Hopefully you guys will get to play RR Tycoon, too. I played Rob's copy with Jeff and Amy, and I have to say it is a great empire builder. The end game is nice and tight even with players taking a different strategies.

I meant to put:

"The end game is nice and tight even with players taking a FEW different strategies."

Why is there no edit on comments?

Simon if Mondays are bad but Tuesdays okay, you should be able to make this session! It's on a Tuesday... I have missed too many sessions lately so I am going to make sure the powers that be let me go to this one.

Simon, I thought you got out of class at 10:00pm on Tuesday, or was it 8:30pm?

Whoops, bit of dyslexia there. I meant the other way around.

Monday = good
Tuesday = bad

Have fun on Tuesday!

I told you we (i.e. I) need an edit button.

To keep things from getting too confusing, let's keep the plan for Tuesday at DL. Simon, I'll try to keep next Monday free for the following week.

Simon, Now I'm concerned it may not going to meet your high expectations after so much anticipation. Hehe.

And actually, Monday would have been better for me too, but don't change it though. I'm 80% sure I'll be making it on Tuesday. It just takes time, negotiating, dedication, some extra TLC, some coaxing, some whinning, some begging, etc etc.

I'll be there, and I'll bring a copy of Command & Colors (as well), Twilight Struggle, Beowulf, and anything else that strikes my fancy (or that people ask for).

Whoa whoa, I was never asking to change it. I was just commenting.

Maybe, the inflection in my type came off differently.

But yeah, please go forth and be merry. Like I said, have fun on Teusday!

BTW, I am going on Tuesday. I'll get there again by 7pm. I'll bring HotS, my plexi, and some two player filler like Battle Line just in case.

Talked with most of my gaming group tonight. I know I'll be able to make it on Tuesday but the others are a little iffy. They'll try but no guarantees.

Looks like y'all have plenty of games lined up, but just in case I'll bring what few short games I have, which ammounts to... Vegas Showdown. Yeah.

This is Chad, by the way. Didn't realize I still had the name as Landon.
