Are you ready for some football...and indigestion?

Apparently, more antacid is sold the day after the Super Bowl than any other day of the year. I wonder why.

I'm hosting Sunday for some general board gaming starting at 12 noon. We'll end up with the Super Bowl and all of its attendant commercials, pregame shows, anthems, hourlong halftimes, and the like. It's listed as having a 5:25pm Central start time (not 5:30pm, mind you)--I don't know what that means regarding when the good commercials actually start or when kickoff is, but I suppose we'll figure it out as we go. I'll likely order a slew of pizzas but people are also welcome to bring other snacks, drinks, desserts, or just themselves. We've done this two years running and it's always fun, even if we don't really care which teams are playing. So get your chores done on Saturday and come over on Sunday because you know you'll be watching it anyway, and watching with friends is better.

Let me know if you need directions, and check back here for updates just in case. Try to let me know if you're coming in case seating space becomes an issue.

Absurdly specific start time alert! The NFL can measure 12ths of hours?

My favorite TMQ absurdly specific complaint was when he complained about a salary being reported as something like 5.34 million. Because 40k is NOTHING peasants.

I'm in.

I am in. (Since Dennis is coming out of hibernation I want to be on hand to see if he sees his shadow or not; although I am not sure what it means either way for a physicist as opposed to a ground hog?)

If a physicist sees his shadow, his wavefunction collapses. As long as he doesn't look, he's safe.

This could not be present day Ben about to make an appearance. Personally I think the more likely scenario involves Ben from the past, time travel, and probably JJ Abrams. (Of course this could just mean I have been catching up on way too many old Lost episodes; but nevertheless I will stick with this as my working theory for the moment.)
I will try to bring macadamia nuts; fudge; and truffles.

Ok, I'm not the world's biggest pizza fan. And since I've gotten a pretty good response so far, as further enticement I'll get fajitas from Pappasitos instead of pizza. We did this a long time ago and it worked pretty well, and this IS the Super Bowl, so it seems as good a time as any to do it again.

I think I'm getting enough for everyone, but again it helps to have a head count so I can order more if necessary. So add a comment, email me, or call me and let me know so I don't send anyone home too hungry. The more, the merrier.

Ok, I think we're good on everything. I'll have enough food and then some so just come on over (even if I haven't heard from you, you're definitely still welcome!). The only thing I don't have is beer, so BYOB if you want some. One last note--I'll pick up the food about 4:30pm, so you may want to grab a light lunch before heading over just to tide you over until that time.

Rumors of my demise were slightly exaggerated. Still, its possible time travel and red matter, whatever that is, will be required this evening.

I'm looking forward to some pizza, I mean fajitas, perhaps a little gaming, and lots of football. Who is playing again? Is this an important game?

Sorry... I'm ~30 hours in to Dragon Age, so I'm a little out of touch with the rest of the world at the moment.
