The next in a long line ...

... of gaming nights will be tomorrow at Dragon's Lair! Requests, pleas and bantering in the comment thread, as always.

And that picture, it's currently for sale dirt cheap along with other stuff. [The price will probably shoot up real soon now, but if it doesn't then someone got a steal]. (Auctions end 8:30 pm sunday).

Smart move cashing out of Successors before the reprint comes out.

I'll be there 5-5:30 pm.

I'll get there at 12pm to face my opponent Jon (who will probably kick my butt once again) in the new edition of Twilight Struggle.

Ben may also try it out with me later in the night.

Otherwise, I'm up for anything including Loopin' Louie (sorry Simon, you were right... it's pretty sweet.... saw multiple copies at BGG.con).

Finally putting my foot down to start playing my ever growing stack of unplayed wargames, Jon and I will be playing EastFront 2 Tuesday Morning (which means, I won't be able to sleep Monday night reviewing the rules). Session report to follow....

Once again I will not be there. Business travel.

I am glad to say, however, that I have hoarded vacation days long enough. With the holidays approaching, I am prepared to spend a few here and there to get in some high quality game time.

I'm anxious to get some *firsts* out of the way this holiday season:

-- Battle Lore (Xmas to self)
-- Twilight Struggle
-- Eastfront (I or II)
-- Reef Encounter (Xmas to self)
-- Louis XIV (long story)
-- Leonardo da Vinci
-- shifting sands

And I'm looking forward to some or all of the following non-firsts:

-- Wizard Kings
-- Hammer of the Scots
-- Rommel in the Desert
-- Ra
-- Settlers
-- Sword of Rome
-- Struggle of Empires
-- etc, etc

Hmm...that's quite a lot of game time, actually. More than just a few days worth. Well, it's good to have goals, right?

Rob: I was writing my reply when your "line in the sand" about EF got posted.

I say: Go, man, go! I'm always glad to see wargames get played.

Though I have to admit I prefer to be one of the folks involved...

I'll be there at four. Can I reserve my BattleLore game now?

Thanks to a nice rise in income (at the cost of a perilous drop in free time), I’ve got about ten packages being shipped to my house! Merry Christmas to me!

Highlights to look forward to in the coming weeks include:
Tumblin’ Dice
Cardhaus game order
Funagain game order
Boulder Games order
LCD HDTV (no Wii yet though…*sigh*)
Some Tanga purchases
and one BGG trade (so long Trias!)

GREED IS GREAT!

I'm up for some longish wargame action, but not for two weeks (I'm probably up for it starting the 17th).

In particular:
Here I Stand
7 Ages
Shifing Sands
Sword of Rome
Wilderness War
Europe Engulfed
Flying Colors
Pax Romana

Shifting Sands: This weekend I took a look at the current 9 pages of errata and 13 pages of FAQ, and I promptly listed the game on E-Bay. Perhaps I'm over reacting, but I think this sucker needs a version 2.0 reprint in a big way. I'll be the first in line to P500 a copy when they do.

I guess that's one good thing about Euro's. Since they're simpler, there's less fiddliness to tighten up with them.

One game I'd add to the holiday gameplay wishlist is Barbarossa to Berlin 2006. Now this is the 2.0 version of the game, and I've yet to see any errata posted for this one, though apparently this reprint did fix a ream-full.

Brian: sign me up NOW for HIS. And don't listen to Ben about the FAQ and errata stuff. The mostly consist of clarifications, and is not actual errata. All the game needs is Living Rules.

Yes, please don't pay any attention to me... but please feel free to bid on my E-Bay auction. :)

I claim a spot in HIS at this point in time, let me know when we are going to play.

As stated before I will be there at 12

Hmmm.... I think I might sell Memoir....and replace it with BattleLore.

If you do, let me know. I think it would be nice to have an extra copy in case of the desire for playing the Overlord scenarios.

I'm up for giving HIS a try too. I'll be sending various interested parties a HIS information packet shortly via e-mail...

Tonight is movie night for my seminar class on science and pseudoscience. I'm showing "An Inconvenient Truth". I'd rather be playing games.

But after tonight, I should become a Monday regular again. I'll also be able to make Battlelore Friday (I'll go post in that thread now).

I want to see "An Inconvienant Truth." Not enough to skip games night though...

Simon: What games do you have coming in on all these orders? The Tanga TV sounds like a killer deal. Hopefully once you decide to get a Wii you won't just spend all your free time at home playing with it.

At 12:15 PM, December 04, 2006, Blogger Simon said...

Spend all my time, alone, playing with my Wii?

*snicker snicker*

Uhhh...Anyway...

I haven't officially put in my order for Boulder Games yet since I'm confused about their interface. As for the other orders, there's:

Runebound with butt-ton of expansions
MagBlast
Drakon
Railroad Tycoon
Aladdin's Dragons
Carc: Discovery
More Treehouse pieces
Tumblin' Dice
Monsters Menace America
Kahuna
Arena Maximus
King's Gate
Kingdoms
Blue Moon: Buka Invasion

Sadly, Wallenstein is holding up To Court a King...

By Wallenstein I of course mean Shogun.

I have Mag-Blast and Drakon in the car for tonight. Hooray, another Runebound fan. We need to play again. The latest decks have all been very favorably reviewed on BGG.

At 2:17 PM, December 04, 2006, Blogger Simon said...

I got Runebound specifically for solo play...kinda sad, but I like the pseudo RPG feel and that you can always "save game" from night to night instead of slogging thru all 4 hours in one go.

At 3:34 PM, December 04, 2006, Blogger Ben said...

Hmmmm... I guess these means no Descent for you either... Isn't Doom one of your favorites though?

Personally I find these games do work well solo (as long as you're not using the class decks; see my current thread on the FFG message boards), but they're a ton more fun with others.
