Columbus Day Gamefest, Monday, 9 October 2006
Columbus Day (aka the Day of Indigenous Resistance in Venezuela) is almost here! This is the holiday each year where I give thanks for my government job that gives me a free day off on such occassions. I can think of no better way to commemorate Columbus' arrival in the Bahamas than to spend the day board gaming. I hope to organize gaming starting at 1000 at Dragon's Lair, assuming they're not closed for the holiday. Chime in if you're interested in joining me.

I can be there. I'd prefer to play something long since this can be an all day thing. Anyone else up for something "epic?"
I want to play something epic as well. TI:3 again would be just fine, as would Descent, WoW... anything epic that involves combat and killing...
I don't know if I have the day off or not, but I haven't played WoW yet...
I'm in.
Me? It could go any way for me that day.... from WoW, Shifting Sands, Arkham Horror, etc. to some regular 1hr euros, to a single round of No Thanks, to not showing up at all.
The pitfalls (and blessing of course) of having the day off with my parents staying at my house.
Ben, your sick...I like that in a gamer.
Moved post to the top for ease of planning...
I'll be there, but probably not until after lunch. (My sons Birthday party is monday morning).
I will be there at 1000. If we're going to play something epic, we should do some advanced planning. Who is:
(a) Going to be there at 1000
And
(b) Wants to play a long multi-player game of TI:3, WoW, or Descent, or,
(c) Wants to play a 2-player wargame
Other options I'm quite interested in:
War of the Ring (Battles or expansion)
Arkham Horror (with expansion)
Lock and Load
Command and Color Ancients
Memoir '44 Pacific or East Front
I don't have the day off. I wonder about these all day game fests from my standpoint as a late arriver. Seems like people will be played-out by 6:30 when I arrive.
I think I'll skip this one.
I just put this as the end to my post, only to find out htat Ben had popped this back to the top ... so here it is again:
And now looking ahead for Monday, I'll be at DL after lunch. It sounds like people are going to be playing Vampire and other small-mid range games. But given that we could start at 1pm, is it time for something meatier? Sword of Rome again? 7 Ages? I also have Successors, Die Macher. I could go for shorter games, but if we've got the time and crowd...
I could also play Wilderness War.
I'm always up for Wilderness War. I'll bring it.
I've been wanting to try Die Macher as well, as it is about to hit the shelves and I've been eyeballing it.
I'd really like to play Lock 'N Load, if someone is willing to bring it. My copy is still in the mail.
Assuming we don't reach concensus on games to be played, I'll just fill my car with a few armloads and see what happens.
I can be there at 10. Something big and not two player sounds good to me if enough people show up that early. Other than that I'm not really picky.
I'll hopefully be there at 1000. My car broke down and need to take it to a shop close by early morn. Anyone know of a reputable garage close by (by DL)?
I vote for WoW, or Arkham. Still, I should be out by 2pm or so though. If memory serves me well, both are about that long (arkham probably shorter). I'll bring Vampire just in case. BTW, would love to try SoR or Succcccessssors, but tomorrow again, may be bad for me.
I'll also bring shorter group and 2 player euros just in case.
We've been having bad car luck lately!
I'll bring a big pile.
Arkham is possible, but I'd like to keep the game to 3-4 players max so it doesn't take all day.
I guess we'll see what everyone feels like tomorrow!
Will there be anyone left in the evening?
I can't be positive, but I suspect that Jon and Brian will be there. I will be there as well.
